The Voice
03:16
|
|||
I hear your voice on the wind
And I hear you call out my name
Listen my child you say to me
I am the voice of your history
Be not afraid, come follow me
Answer my call and I'll set you free
I am the voice in the wind and the pouring rain
I am the voice of your hunger and pain
I am the voice that always is calling you
I am the voice, I will remain
I am the voice in the fields when the summer's gone
The dance of the leaves when the autumn winds blow
Ne'er do I sleep throughout all the cold winter long
I am the force that in springtime will grow
I am the voice of the past that will always be
Filled with my sorrow and blood in my fields
I am the voice of the future, bring me your peace
Bring me your peace and my wounds they will heal
I am the voice in the wind and the pouring rain
I am the voice of your hunger and pain
I am the voice that always is calling you
I am the voice
I am the voice of the past that will always be
I am the voice of your hunger and pain
I am the voice of the future
I am the voice, I am the voice
I am the voice, I am the voice

Black Is The Colour
03:46
|
|||
Black is the colour of my true love's hair
His lips are like a rose so fair
He's got the sweetest face and the gentlest hands
I love the ground whereon he stands
I love my love and well he knows
I love the ground whereon he goes
And I wish the day, the day would come
When he and I will be as one
I walk to the Clyde to mourn and weep
For satisfied I ne'er will sleep
I'll write him a letter, a few short lines
And suffer death ten thousand times
Black is the colour of my true loves hair
His lips are like a rose so fair
He's got the sweetest face and the gentlest hands
I love the ground whereon he stands
I love the ground whereon he stands

The Green Shores of Eire

I sat within the valley green
I sat me with my true love
And my fond heart strove the two between
The old love and the new love
The old for her, the new that made me think on Ireland dearly
While soft the wind blew down the glade
And shook the golden barley
'Twas hard the woeful words to frame
To break the ties that bound us
And harder still to bear the shame
Of foreign chains around us
And so I said the mountain glen I'll seek at morning early
And I'll join the bold united men
While soft wind shook the barley
'Twas sad I kissed away her tears
Her fond arm 'round me clinging
When a foeman's shot burst on our ears
From out the wild woods ringing
A bullet pierced my true love's side
In life's young spring so early
And on my breast in blood she died
While soft wind shook the barley
It's blood for blood without remorse
I've taken at Oulart Hollow
I've laid my true love's clay-like corpse
Where mine full soon may follow
Around her grave I've wandered drear
Noon night and morning early
With breaking heart whene'er I hear
The wind that shakes the barley

The Holy Ground
03:35
|
|||
Farewell my darling Ruadan
A thousand times adieu
You are going away from the holy ground
And the ones that you love true
You'll sail the salt seas over
And then return for sure
To see again the ones you love
And the holy ground once more
You're on the salt sea sailing
And I am safe behind
Fond letters I will write to you
The secrets of my mind
And the secrets of my mind, my love
You're the one that I adore
And still I live in hopes you'll see
The holy ground once more
I see the storm arising
And it's coming quick and soon
And the night so dark and cloudy
You can scarcely see the moon
And the secrets of my mind, my love
You're the one that I adore
And still I live in hopes you'll see
The holy ground once more
You're the one that I adore
And still I live in hopes that you'll see
The holy ground once more

When my love said to me
Meet me down by the gallow tree
For it's sad news I bring
About this old town and all that it's suffering
Some say troubles abound
Someday soon they're gonna pull the old town down
One day we'll return here
When the Belfast child sings again
Brothers, sisters, where are you now?
As I look for you through the crowd
All my life here I've spent
With my faith in God, the church and the government
Some say troubles abound
Some day soon they're gonna pull the old town down
One day we'll return here
When the Belfast child sings again
When the Belfast child sings again

The Parting Glass
02:35
|
|||
Of all the money that e'er I spent
I spent it in good company
And of all the harm that e'er I've done
Alas it was to none but me
And all I've done for want of wit
To memory now I can't recall
So fill to me the parting glass
Good night and joy be to you all
And of all the comrades that e'er I've had
They're sorry for my going away
And of all the sweethearts that e'er I've had
They'd wish me one more day to stay
But since it falls unto my lot
That I should rise and you should not
I will gently rise and softly call
Good night and joy be to you all
I will gently rise and softly call
Good night and joy be to you all
